Day Four: How to Turn Off Your Inner Editor

Inner editors are something almost all of us have, and that red squiggly line under that typo isn't helping. I have a lot of trouble with my inner editor, but sometimes I manage to tie them up and gag them.
One way I turn off the 'editing skills of doom,' is to type with my eyes closed. Now I know some people will have a problem with this, because of the typos, but the entire point of this tip is to not be able to read it, and therefore, you don't know the typos are there. Another way is to make the text white. Again, typos, grammar mistakes, you can't fact check very well, but there's a reason Camp NaNo and NaNo in general are for first drafts. You're just trying to get words on a page, you shouldn't be trying for a perfect, no editing needed story. (I don't think those exist anyway.) Finally, Word Sprints are fantastic. You get your timer going, and all you think about until it goes off is typing more of your story. Deadlines motivate me quite a bit, and that's why I find word sprints so great. They're also a lot of fun, and you can do them with friends and share your word counts at the end and feel proud!
Okay, I'm going to be off now. Comment your tips for turning off the inner editor and what you'd like me to talk about next! Have fun writing!

Day 3: My Camp NaNo Survival Kit

I know, I know. This is the most overdone thing ever. But hey, it's still early in Camp NaNo, and I was going to end up doing this anyway. It's better to get it over with now, right? So here is the list of things that are surrounding me as I type away at my novel.

1. My laptop. I think this one's pretty self explanatory.
2. My iPod. I'm using this for music to help me get noveling. (I'm totally not using it to look at fanfiction when I get bored. What? No.)
3. Hair ties. While my hair may be fairly short, it's long enough for it to get very annoying, very quickly.
4. Coffeeeeee. I have my travel mug full of coffee right next to me because I don't think I could survive without it.
5. Granola. I need some sustenance, right?
6. Pens and Notebooks. These are for when I feel like sketching characters, or writing down little quotes I could use later.
7. Cat. He's currently sleeping on my bed and being a total cutie.
8. Blanket and pillow. I prefer to be comfortable while causing myself headaches.
9. Ibuprofen. For the headaches I'm causing myself.

I think that's about it actually. Huh, I kind of thought in the back of my head that it'd be more stuff. Oh well. If you want, you can tell me your must have Camp NaNo supplies. You can also tell me if you want to hear more about my story, or anything else you may want to hear. Now, I've got to get back to writing, and I'll see you guys tomorrow!

Day One (Okay, technically it's day two.)

Okay, so I thought, Hey, I'm doing Camp NaNo for the first time. I should make a blog! Unfortunately, It's the second day of Camp NaNo. Sigh.
I've never done any form of NaNoWriMo before, and I'm very excited to be trying. I know I'm supposed to be writing right now, but hey, when I'm blocked, this can help me work through it, right? (That is a horrible excuse.) It's kind of funny that it's my first time and I'm already a NaNo Rebel. I'm working on a work that I had already written about a thousand words on.
I often get ideas for things from dreams, because my dreams are pretty weird. I'm not going to tell any of you any of my story, but it does have two POVs. Now, for someone who's never written more than a thousand words of a work before, two POVs is a bit of a large undertaking. Especially when depending on my mood, one is usually easier to write than the other. For a glimpse at my characters, I have an INTJ and an ESFP. They are complete opposites and it is completely ridiculous and I didn't even mean for it to happen.
Okay, but as I'm currently kicking myself to start writing again, I'm going to end this here. You can find me on Camp NaNoWriMo as scribblingRagamuffin, and good luck to everyone participating in Camp NaNo!
