Day Four: How to Turn Off Your Inner Editor

Inner editors are something almost all of us have, and that red squiggly line under that typo isn't helping. I have a lot of trouble with my inner editor, but sometimes I manage to tie them up and gag them.
One way I turn off the 'editing skills of doom,' is to type with my eyes closed. Now I know some people will have a problem with this, because of the typos, but the entire point of this tip is to not be able to read it, and therefore, you don't know the typos are there. Another way is to make the text white. Again, typos, grammar mistakes, you can't fact check very well, but there's a reason Camp NaNo and NaNo in general are for first drafts. You're just trying to get words on a page, you shouldn't be trying for a perfect, no editing needed story. (I don't think those exist anyway.) Finally, Word Sprints are fantastic. You get your timer going, and all you think about until it goes off is typing more of your story. Deadlines motivate me quite a bit, and that's why I find word sprints so great. They're also a lot of fun, and you can do them with friends and share your word counts at the end and feel proud!
Okay, I'm going to be off now. Comment your tips for turning off the inner editor and what you'd like me to talk about next! Have fun writing!
